“Afternoon on Colony Lake”

Richmond, Virginia’s veteran mortgage lender, Stan Vickhouse, wanted to surprise his wife Betty on their 30th wedding anniversary. Their home was filled with artwork that they’d collected over the years, much of it done by yours truly! However, Stan found a small space in their entrance foyer, which could be filled with a small custom painting. His thought was to have me create a small oil of their beautiful Richmond home expressly for this spot! The painting was presented to Betty on their anniversary and she was thrilled with the piece! She said to me “I love it, love it, love it! It’s just great – wonderful, thank you John!” No Betty and Stan, I thank you!

Betty and Stan have been friends for many years – Stan even provided the mortgage for our first home purchase 41 years ago in Richmond.

I enjoy painting architecture, whether an ancient bell tower in Italy, created there on the spot, or doing paintings of a modern homes in my studio. If of interest to you, give a call or email.

The artwork is oil on canvas panel measuring 6 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ – overall framed size 15 1/4″ x 19 1/4″ and was completed with a hand-lettered nameplate and House of Troy painting light.
